Nuance never discusses non-released/beta applications or operating systems.
Windows 10 is still a non-officially released operating system so you're definitely not going to hear anything from Nuance or many other software manufacturers, for at least another week. What we can tell you is that a number of end-users have successful used a beta version of Windows 10 and NaturallySpeaking 13 but as far as official support is concerned, that's not going to happen until sometime after Windows 10 is released. If there are any Dragon 13 hickups, in Windows 10, Nuance will undoubtedly release a patch. As it stands, they are probably overdue for a service release patch. Windows 10 is available tomorrow. Theoretically 2 of my PCs could begin downloading the free upgrade from 7 and 8.1 as soon as midnight tonight. And I have no way of knowing for certain if it is safe to go ahead and install it.

A number of other programs that I use have already issued patches in anticipation of Windows 10 among them my Norton Internet Security upgraded itself a couple of weeks ago. The upgrade caused a problem with Outlook 2013 anti-spam and although it took them a couple of weeks, they've now issued a patch to fix that. So Norton not only had a patch ready weeks in advance of Windows 10, they've even had time to resolve issues caused by that patch. Because of my disability I am totally dependent on using Dragon. So now I have to wait around for God knows how long until Nuance decides to tell me if their software is compatible. Are we really supposed to believe that application companies such as Nuance do not have access to final release candidates of Windows prior to its release to the general public? I know it's not your fault.
I'm just venting my frustrations:-). I read an article the other day that recommended that people wait about six months before upgrading to Windows 10. The article said that this would give Microsoft time to work out many of the bugs that are likely to occur in the initial release. Right now my computer is working well with Windows 8.0, and I want to keep it that way. Before I take the risk of upgrading I want a lot more information about problems that may occur and about what benefits I may expect if I upgrade. Someone said, 'if it ain't broke, don't fix it'.
Others can jump in, I'm going to wait. Originally posted by: Walker I read an article the other day that recommended that people wait about six months before upgrading to Windows 10. You do realize that you're going to have to upgrade to Windows 8.1 before you can upgrade to Windows 10 don't you? According to all the information it has been published only Windows 7 SP1 and Windows 8.1 are eligible for the upgrade. I do certainly agree about waiting a little while to let everything shake out however. I understand that I will have to upgrade to Windows 8.1 before I upgrade to Windows 10. I upgraded twice in the past: on the first attempt it worked well for a week or two but then I got messages that Windows wasn't loading correctly, and the Geek Squad at Best Buy recommended resetting the computer.
On the second attempt, Windows Update would not function so I used a system image to return to Windows 8.0. At this point I suppose I will wait until I decide to upgrade to Windows 10, then I will upgrade to Windows 8.1 and then to Windows 10. If you're already happy with Windows 7 or Windows 8, I personally don't see any compelling reason to immediately upgrade to Windows 10. As Lunis said above, a lot of software manufacturers have not released their official Windows 10 support statements. We have many tablets and laptops from multiple manufacturers and I just received an official notification from one manufacturer of touchscreen Ultrabooks which said that they recommend NOT upgrading until they have certified all of their drivers and they are not scheduled to have those available for Windows 8.1 until October. Our other laptop supplier as of this morning has 'no official statement yet on support for Windows 10 '. Again I see no upside benefits to a personal user for immediately upgrading an older machine to Windows 10.
If you want to just do it for grins or bragging rights that's another matter. Phil Schaadt. Just follow Phil's sage advice.
I have been running the Windows 10 preview on a testing machine (VM) also since it first came out, and it has been nice to toy around with, but then also there were some issues with particular drivers every once in a while, just like with any other new Windows version in the past. At home, I will likely download and test (play around with) the final release very early, but I am not going to take the plunge and install it in the office where I am dependent on my systems being up to the task of handling production requirements - From under the hood. Welcome to the World's Most Popular Speech Recognition Forum Contacting Nuance, about a not yet released operating system, is a waste of time because you are contacting Level 1 technical support when you need Level 3. Level 1 technical support is a professional support site in Puerto Rico which is comprised of individuals who don't actually use Dragon. They basically pass on the company line and do their best to answer questions by searching the, which you can also do.
Nuance never supports beta or prerelease software because they can't justify the R&D costs. We haven't heard back from a lot of Windows 10 users but the few we have heard back from have experienced positive results running Dragon 13 and Dragon 12 on Windows 10. Nuance simply can't afford to support Windows 10 until it is officially released, Nuance's official response will be that they don't support Windows 10 and may not officially support Windows 10 until they release a service patch but that doesn't mean NaturallySpeaking won't work well and possibly even better. All we're saying is that you're wasting your time contacting Nuance at this time.
(615) 884-4558 x2 (PDF) (30 Day Trial) (15 Day Trial). I am going to be my usual curmudgeon and self and not update to Windows 10 I was told by one of the Dell representatives just last night that it will make no difference and I am just too overwhelmed with technology to take on something else from staying with Windows 7 and hoping for the best until I'm forced to go to Windows 10 I use Dragon 13 premium with a boom O microphone and and Andrea USB pod I work mostly in Word 2013 - Writing a novel is like driving a car at night.
You can only see as far as your headlights, but you can make the whole trip that way. Howard, Lunis nailed it, but just to add a smidgen to is post, the answer that Nuance gave you is incomplete and vague. As Lunis points out, Nuance is not going to talk compatibility with Windows 10 until after it is released. I'm going to update one of my machines tomorrow when the download is ready.
I'll let you know. Regardless, that being said, the current Technical Preview of Windows 10 is build 10240, which is the RC candidate.
There will be very few changes between that build and the final release. Nonetheless, there are only a few compatibility issues at this point, and these are relatively minor.
I'm dictating this post using Windows 10 and IE 11. I have no problems with the exception of the minor compatibility issues noted here and in previous posts. Once I get the final release, I will attempt to give a complete breakdown of and with regard to any known issues.

My overall advice for anyone out there, if you have a mind of your own left, would be to stay away from Windows 10 while you can. Their download (fishing) policy has become atrocious. If you ever found the advertising gear prevailing from Lunis and or Chuck intrusive, which you probably should find, you haven't seen Windows 10 invading you system. In short, avoid it like the plague, which goes for Windows 10, and anything else mentioned here (although the minor actors are just minimally as hurting as Windows 10 indeed). From under the hood. Click the picture and find out! You obviously haven't drunk enough Microsoft Kool-Aid yet! Actually, Windows 10 is a major improvement in many ways over previous Windows versions. It's much more compact and requires less overhead which can make a machine run faster and more efficiently. Yes, you are correct that MS is collecting user information why we use it but everyone else also does that so what's different in this case? I'm not going to upgrade my main machines quite yet until any installation bugs shakeout but I've been running Windows 10 on an older machine for quite a while through various beta releases and have been very pleased with its operation.
